WorkSafe Queensland have announced new stricter testing and tagging requirements for Construction and Demolition sites.
There has been a change to the definition of construction work under the 2013 Electrical Safety Regulation. As a result of this, the AS/NZS 3012 standard will now apply to all electrical equipment in temporary buildings on construction sites.
Basically, this means that any on-site buildings such as offices, lunch rooms, amenities and toilets will now have to be tested to the same standard as a construction or demolition site, rather than just an office environment. Testing will have to be conducted more frequently and items such as domestic rated power boards can no longer be used in these areas. Read the full statement.
Regulation does differ across Australian states, so for more Queensland specific information please visit –worksafe.qld.gov.au/electricalsafety
